L.O.V.E. - ERICK & VIRGINIA'S WEDDING GOBO [Dec 2010]

A few months ago, I posted an entry regarding Erick & Virginia's Wedding Logo ( L.O.V.E. - ERICK & VIRGINIA'S WEDDING LOGO [Oct 2010] ). They had submitted the design to the DJ and he was then responsible for finding someone to create the gobo and have it ready for the wedding day on December 11, 2010. Having been in architecture school, I know that to have something laser cut, you have to work off of specific types of files for machines to be able to recognize the lines to cut. I thought it was weird that all he needed was a jpg file. Erick and Virginia submitted the gobo design to the DJ 1.5 months before their wedding date. They hadn't heard from him up until 2 days before the wedding. He informed them that he was not able to find someone to cut the design they wanted. (I think he was just being lazy). They were really upset and asked for a refund for their payment of the gobo. 

On December 10th at 1:30am, Erick called me and asked me if I could do him a favor. Since they had just moved into their home, they didn't have Internet access. He asked me to send an e-mail to www.goboman.com and tell him about the situation and ask if he could make it happen and how much it would be for next day delivery. He heard of them from one of their friends who had used them for their wedding logo. I sent the e-mail and went back to sleep thinking that they were probably not going to respond. At 9:00 am, they responded saying that they could do it if I provided them with a vector file in Adobe Illustrator or an EPS file and the offer was only good until 11:00 am if I wanted it to get sent out in time for next day delivery. Thankfully, I understood what he needed, rushed home and emailed the files. It was all hit or miss now. We weren't sure what time the UPS truck would deliver the gobo to the house. We were hoping it would come before the wedding ceremony so nobody would have to miss it staying home and watching out for the UPS guy. The house was in Baldwin Park, which is where the UPS headquarters was. We were hoping they would deliver to Baldwin Park first.

It was the day of the wedding. I woke up at 5:30am ready to start my day. I asked Virginia to track the gobo and see where it was just in case something went wrong with the shipment. She noticed that the delivery date had changed for some reason and was suppose to come in on December 13, 2010. At this point, we were ready to drive wherever it was and pick it up. Some of my cousins and I were getting ready at the house in Baldwin Park and the door bell rang at 9:00 am. It was the UPS guy with the gobo! The DJ couldn't get it done in 1.5 months and we got it done in 1 day. Sometimes you can't depend on others to get things done even if you hired them.

WHITE WEDDING SHOES [Oct 2010]

Erick and Virginia's Wedding is coming up and all the bridesmaid's have to wear white shoes for the wedding. We are allowed to choose any white shoes we wanted to wear. They don't have to match everyone else's because everyone got to choose a different style dress as well. I've been searching for white shoes since January, but have not come across any that I liked. I looked online to see if there was something else I couldn't find at the mall. There was nothing I liked and the ones I did like were at least $150 or not white. I decided to go to Ross and get a pair of inexpensive shoes that I liked and paint them white. I figured if I can't find something I like, I should just make it myself. I found a pair of cute and comfortable black Steve Madden's that I really liked for $22.99 so I got them. They were exactly what I was looking for. They are wide enough and don't make my feet feel like they are being squished. I initially wanted to apply a layer of primer and then color, but the primer that I have has an enamel-like finish that I didn't feel there was a need for white paint. I finished it off with a clear matte spray.

VIRGINIA & ERICK'S TABLE NUMBERS & WEDDING PARTY NAME CARDS [Oct 2010]

Erick and Virginia needed table numbers to identify their tables so guests can easily find where they're suppose to sit. They both have been busy and asked me if I could make them for them. I had no concept of where to start with except their colors. I kind of wanted to make it resemble the design from the guestbook that my younger sister made. From there, I looked up some floral scroll clipart designs and Virginia chose a simple one that caught her eye. This is that I came up with. Something simple yet sophisticated.

I also went ahead and made some name cards for the party favors which will be given to the wedding party at the rehearsal dinner.

L.O.V.E. - ERICK & VIRGINIA'S WEDDING LOGO [Oct 2010]

Erick and Virginia needed to design a logo for the wedding that would be displayed on the dance floor with light. They had to submit their design to the DJ so he could get it laser cut for the event. They had an idea of how they wanted it to be, but didn't have the time to design it so they asked me if I could do it for them. They wanted to do a word play with the word "Love" since both of their first initials are in it. I went through a series of different designs and the last one was what they wanted. I inverted the final design for fun just to see how it would look with white on black. I will post photos of the logo on the dance floor after the wedding.
